Edmonton Oilers prospect Ryan Fanti, a goalie for the Fort Wayne Komets, scored from behind his own net in a 6-3 ECHL victory against the Rapid City Rush on Sunday.

Fanti stopped a puck dumped into the zone by the Rush and took aim from about 196 feet out and put it dead center into the empty net across the ice.

After the 23-year-old became the first-ever Komets goalie to score a goal, the celebration was on.

Teammates mobbed Fanti as the crowd roared. When he broke from the pile to hit the handshake line along the bench, Fanti waved his arm to egg on the home crowd for more noise - or perhaps he was just trying to get the attention of the princesses in attendance.

The big club certainly enjoyed the score.
