The NHL and NHLPA, alongside our clubs, partners and fans, are united in our commitment to support, engage, and inspire the communities where we live and play. Here are some examples of how the Hockey Family is coming together for COVID-19 relief.

 

 

Contributions by players, owners, and club foundations have reached approximately $15 million in monetary donations.

 

Collectively, over 500,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks, suits, test kits, sanitizer, and gloves have been donated to various hospitals across the United States and Canada.

 

In addition, over 1,000,000 meal and food donations have gone out to families, centers, and healthcare workers.

 

Club Efforts

Ducks convert Great Park Ice practice facility into food storage facility for Second Harvest of Orange County. Read more.

 

Members of the Ducks and their significant others announce donation of 200 meals per day to UCI Medical Center. Read more.

 

Education curriculum is now available for families and educators to find Ducks themed character-building lessons for children. Read more.

St. Mary's Food Bank - John Chayka joined Arizona Governor Ducey to package food boxes for those in need. We also worked with St. Mary's to hold a drive-thru food distribution that helped feed 500 families in Gila River Arena parking lot.

 

Blood Drive - Coach Tocchet, John Chayka, Brad Richardson, and Jason Demers all came out to donate blood at a drive we hosted with Vitalant. Over the course of two days we raised enough blood for 1000 people a one days supply in our 64 valley hospitals. Read more.

 

Captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson donated food to frontline workers at Dignity Health Hospital.

 

Clayton Keller donated food to frontline workers at Mayo Clinic.

To date, the Bruins have donated 5,000 medical grade masks, 500 protective suits, and 200 COVID-19 tests kits to Tufts and Lahey Hospitals. In addition, the Bruins have committed $250,000 to the Boston Resiliency Fund, which will focus on food access for children and seniors, support for healthcare workers, and technology access for students learning remotely.

 

Bruins Foundation launches raffle for a chance to win a one-of-a-kind Bobby Orr "The Goal" replica statue, with all proceeds benefitting frontline workers fighting COVID-19 in their community. Read more.

Pegula Sports & Entertainment will provide at least $1.2 million in direct community aid to Western New York COVID-19 Community Response Fund. Read more.

 

Sabres captain, Jack Eichel purchased 5,000 PPE masks, manufactured by Bauer, that will be donated to area hospitals. Read more

 

Sabres forward Jeff Skinner made 3 individual donations of $53,000 to communities in Western New York; Markham, Ontario (his hometown); and Kitchener, Ontario. Read more.

The Flames Foundation launched a COVID-19 Community Program, through which they will donate $1.15 million to local organizations. Beneficiaries include the Calgary Food Bank and Calgary Counselling Centre. Learn more.

 

Flames captain Mark Giordano and assistant coach Martin Gelinas are encouraging fans to donate PPE to hospitals and supplies for women's shelters in Calgary. Learn more.

 

The Flames introduced a web-based campaign, United by Community, which serves as a centralized hub for community resources, as well as activities for families to stay active at home. Learn more.

Hurricanes donate over $400,00 in grants to benefit 26 North Carolina nonprofits. Read more.

 

PNC Arena held an emergency blood drive to help Raleigh avoid a blood shortage during the COVID-19 outbreak. Read more.

 

PNC Arena's food service, VAB Catering, made a large food donation to Interfaith Food Shuttle. Interfaith Food Shuttle is providing emergency food to families affected by COVID-19. Read more.

United Center transformed itself into a logistics hub for hunger relief, first responder staging, and medical supply donations. Additionally, the Greater Chicago Food Depository is currently using the United Center as a satellite storage facility. Read more.

 

In addition to their $300,000 donation to the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund, the Blackhawks Foundation is providing vital assistance to community organizations during COVID-19 pandemic. One of the many beneficiaries include the Erie Neighborhood House. Read more.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment establish KSE COVID-19 Relief Fund for employees, with the Kroenke Family Foundation making first donation of $500,000. Read more.

 

Kroenke Sports Charities - which includes the Avalanche, the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Rapids, and the Colorado Mammoth - delivered 125 grocery store gift cards and 250 meals to medical staff workers at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in Denver. The Avalanche encourage the community to join them in helping those in need. Read more.

 

On social media, the Avalanche are encouraging their fans to send notes of encouragement to staff at University of Colorado Hospital. They are also celebrating community champions who have stepped up during these uncertain times. Read more.

The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation is holding weekly online auctions to raise money for local organizations affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Auction items include autographed team merchandise and memorabilia. Learn more.

Through his personal foundation, Force Network Fund, alternate captain Cam Atkinson is hosting a virtual 5K to benefit doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers. Read more.

The Dallas Stars have contributed to various COVID-19 relief efforts that have resulted in more than $400,000 in donations to local groups. Read more.

 

Alternate captain Tyler Seguin accepted the #AllInChallenge by auctioning a full "Dallas Stars Day" to raise money for COVID-19 relief. Read more.

 

Dallas Stars announcer, Jeff K, is raising recording customized Cameo video shout outs for fans. Proceeds will benefit the Dallas Stars Foundation and Meals on Wheels Collin County. Read more.

Through a complete team effort, the Red Wings are stepping up in a major way. The team has contributed to Mayor Mike Duggan's "Feed the Front Lines Detroit" program, provided gloves and PPE to Detroit hospitals and donated fresh food to Forgotten Harvest. Read more.

Defenseman Madison Bowey and forward Brendan Perlini joined other Detroit-area celebrities in a Zoom party to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Michigan. The event raised more than $320,000 for BGCSM. Video.

Oilers players collectively contributed $100,000 to Oilers Entertainment Group to assist with COVID-19 support in the community. Read more.

 

Wayne Gretzky and Alexander Ovechkin faced off in NHL 20 to benefit Edmonton Food Bank and MSE Foundation's Feeding the Frontlines fund; raising more than $41,000 to provide meals to individuals impacted by COVID-19. Read more.

 

The Oilers Foundation is providing fans with information regarding 24/7 mental health resources. Read more.

The Florida Panthers Foundation held a virtual 5K "Territory Trot" to benefit local charities impacted by COVID-19. Read more.

 

The Foundation is selling autographed St. Patrick's Day "mystery pucks" to raise money for COVID-19 relief. Read more.

 

Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky donated thousands of N95 masks to hospitals in South Florida. He teamed up with friends Artemi Panarin (NYR) and Semyon Varlamov (NYI), who made similar donations to New York-area hospitals. Read more.

The Kings collaborated with other LA sports teams to sell memorabilia to raise money for individuals in need. Proceeds will be donated to the Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles - LA Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund. Read more.

 

The Kings' "Blood and Pucks" initiative is offering two free tickets to any fans who donate blood at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The tickets will be valid for a game during next season. Learn more.

 

An educational resource guide - including a reading program, coloring pages, and word searches - is available on the Kings' website to help families find activities for their children. Learn more.

Forward Zach Parise and his wife, Alisha, provide financial support to the Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Children's Minnesota. Read more.

 

In partnership with Xcel Energy Center, the Red Cross, and Anheuser-Busch, the Wild hosted a blood drive in their arena to combat blood shortages during the pandemic. Read more.

 

The Wild hockey operations medical staff and Xcel Energy Center operations teams donated over 9,000 medical gloves, alcohol prep pads, and hand sanitizer to Regions Hospital in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Read more.

The Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation donated $1.1 million to organizations that promote the well-being of underprivileged children across Quebec, in order to help them maintain their operations and prepare to resume normal activities after the pandemic. Read more.

 

The Canadiens organization and their players have supported healthcare workers and families in need throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more.

 

Chefs and cooks from the Canadiens' Bell Center teamed up with La Tablée des Chefs for Les Cuisines Solidaires, an initiative that aims to provide more than 800,000 prepared meals to hundreds of organizations across Quebec. Read more.

Through collaborative efforts of the Predators, the Predators Foundation, Bridgestone Arena, and Ford Ice Centers, $2.7 million has been raised to support individuals impacted by COVID-19 as well as those in Nashville who are still recovering from the tragic tornadoes on March 2. Read more.

 

The Predators teamed up with Feed the Front Line Nashville to provide meals to frontline healthcare workers. The Predators and Feed the Front Line purchased meals from local restaurants to support small businesses impacted by COVID-19. Read more.

 

Predators owner, Herb Fritch and his wife, Barbara, donated meals to Metro Nashville Police Department to support their work during these challenging times. Read more.

HSBE, the parent company of the New Jersey Devils, donated meals to more than 160,000 families. Additionally, HSBE contributed over 7,000 gloves and 10,000 masks to RWJ Barnabas Health Network and donated 11,000 Chromebooks to help local students learn from home. Read more.

 

The Devils accepted the #AllInChallenge by auctioning off a host of memorable items and experiences. All proceeds will benefit Feeding America, Meals on Wheels, America's Food Fund, No Kid Hungry, and World Central Kitchen. Read more.

 

The Devils' website and social channels broadcasted the #Jersey4Jersey Benefit show to support the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund, which offers support to families and communities impacted by COVID-19. Read more.

Collectively, the Islanders donated 3,000 N95 masks to Northwell Health Foundation, more than 1,200 meals to local community partner hospitals, and 2,000 recycle bags that will be used to make carrier bags at Food Banks. Read more.

 

Islanders players also offered supportive and positive thoughts to fans on social media, and encouraged fans to send messages of gratitude and thanks to frontline workers. Read more.

 

The Islanders have created an "At Home Activities" webpage with resources and games to keep young kids engaged at home. Read more.

The Rangers accept the Fanatics #AllInChallenge by offering the chance to skate and play with members of the 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team. Read more.

 

New York Rangers players auctioned off their game-used, signed hockey sticks to support Chefs for America. Chefs for America provides fresh, packaged meals for those most affected by COVID-19. Read more.

 

In partnership with Northwell Health, the Rangers will honor inspiring individuals in their community with Stick Taps for Service on social media. Read more.

In combination with HP Canada and LEO Lab, the Ottawa Senators Foundation launched the "Shielding Heroes" campaign, which aims to raise $500,000 to provide face shields to those on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19. Read more.

 

The Senators Foundation auctioned off signed St. Patricks' Day themed merchandise to support local COVID-19 relief efforts. Funds will be used to support programs that are helping children and families impacted by the pandemic. Read more.

 

Senators owner Eugene Melnyk purchased meals for staff at Ottawa's hospitals and provided frontline workers with vouchers for two tickets to a 2020-2021 Senators game. Read more.

Flyers charities and players collectively donated $250,000 to Philabundance, one of Philadelphia's largest hunger relief organizations. The donation will provide food to 160,000 people in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more.

 

The Flyers joined the #AllInChallenge by auctioning the "Ultimate Flyers" experience to raise money for COVID-19 relief. Read more.

In addition to their 500 backpack donation, Penguins and Duolingo donated laptops through Circles Greater Pittsburgh. The laptops will go to families in the community whose children do not have access to online learning during school closures. Read more.

Sharks Sports and Entertainment established a COVID-19 Relief Fund to support part time staff who are facing financial hardship from cancelled or postponed events and facility closures. Read more.

 

Teaming up with NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Sports California and other Bay Area professional sports teams, the Sharks donated 2,100 masks that will contribute to making 50,000 face masks. Read more.

 

The Sharks' "Reading is Cool" program - which promotes children's literacy by offering prizes to students - is now available online to motivate children to read from home. Read more.

NHL Seattle and Oak View Group raised $1 million to donate to local families and nonprofit organizations. With the donation, United Way of King County will distribute $800,000 in grocery vouchers and Seattle Center nonprofits will receive $200,000 in grants. Read more.

 

Seattle is using its social media channels to host children's story time, where families can watch and listen to stories about hockey and inclusion. Read more.

 

The NHL Seattle website has gathered resources for Seattle residents in need of help or looking for ways to help others during this time. Read more.

The Blues launched the Virtual Blue Note 5K to benefit Gateway Resilience Fund, which offers support to St. Louis businesses and employees affected by COVID-19. Read more.

 

Partnering with the Blues for Kids Foundation and Blues Alumni, the Blues held an online 50/50 raffle to benefit the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis. The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis has distributed food and toiletries to more than 2,000 families since the pandemic began. Read more.

 

Goaltender Jordan Binnington personally delivered masks to police officers, firefighters, and nursing homes in need of protective equipment. Read more.

The Tampa Bay Lighting joins The Mosaic Company in donating $200,000 to local food banks through the Goals for Food program. Read more.

 

Bolts Better Halves, a group of Lightning players' significant others, organized an auction of hockey sticks signed by past and current Bolts players to benefit COVID-19 relief. Read more.

 

Through their foundation, team owner Jeff Vinik and his wife, Penny, donated $700,000 to Metropolitan Ministries - an organization that provides food and support to affected families in the Tampa area. Read more.

Toronto Maple Leafs players donated funds to support workers at two Toronto-area hospitals. The hospitals will use the funds to feed frontline employees and to run an emergency room training simulation. Read more.

 

Scotiabank Arena has transformed into Toronto's largest kitchen and is preparing up to 10,000 meals a day for frontline healthcare workers and community agencies. Read more.

 

Alternate captain Mitch Marner's personal charity, Marner Assist Fund, has launched a campaign to support pandemic relief. All money raised will combat food insecurity and help first responders who are working on the front lines. Read more.

The Aquilini Family, with support from Canucks Sports & Entertainment, and Toptable Group are producing 3,500 meals per week for the Vancouver community. Read more.

 

The Canucks for Kids Funs donated $500,000 to support 9 beneficiaries in need. Read more.

 

To honor fans who are helping their community during the pandemic, the Canucks launched the "Fan Hero Awards." Each hero will receive a special feature on the Canucks' website, as well as a customized Canucks jersey. Read more.

Together, team owner Bill Foley and the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation donated $1 million to the Nevada COVID-19 Response, Relief, and Recovery Task Force. The money will be used to purchase PPE and support other pandemic relate initiatives. Read more.

 

The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, along with select players and staff, will donate more than 7,500 meals to medical professionals across the Las Vegas Valley. Read more.

 

In partnership with the American Red Cross, the Golden Knights held a blood drive at City National Arena, the team practice facility and headquarters, to support the Vegas community. Read more.

Washington Capitals create #ALLCAPS at Home community resource page for fans in the DMV area. Read more.

 

Capitals players and their significant others held a "Stick Together" Auction to provide meals to heroes in the medical community. The auctions feature autographed sticks, jerseys, and Capitals memorabilia. Read more.

 

Goaltender Braden Holtby and his wife, Brandi, created a fundraiser to raise $200,000 for Capital Area Food Bank. In addition, teammate Garnet Hathaway launched the "Hath's Heroes" initiative to provide meals to first responders. Read more.

Together, Jets players donated $100,000 to Winnipeg Harvest, which is working to combat food insecurity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more.

 

To support the Winnipeg community, the Jets created a community assist hub to provide resources to the community. Read more.
